A police officer who shot an IRA terrorist in 1991 has given an exclusive TV interview to GB News, opening up on how his life has been ruined by years of legal battles.

The man, whose identity has been kept secret and is known simply as 'Officer B', has faced six investigations which have all found his actions were justified.

Speaking to this as the legislation is debated in the House of Lords, Officer B said that for years he had been subjected to a "vindictive, vexatious witch hunt" and an "attempt to rewrite history".

In total, over £2billion in taxpayer money has been spent on inquiries and court cases into prosecuting incidents related to The Troubles.

His sit-down interview comes as a controversial bill, called the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Bill, makes its way through Westminster and aims to put an end to the constant court cases that have plagued those that served the crown.
